Know Jesus

Let’s try to cut through the noise about Jesus, the Bible, and religion and get to the core
of what it means to follow Jesus.

God created us to know and love Him and worship Him.

The Bible, God’s written word, is one of the ways God reveals Himself. In it, He says that He loves you so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to make a way for you to know him. Because of God’s grace, His love doesn’t change regardless of where you’ve been or what you’ve done.

God's word makes it clear that a truly full life — a life of deep joy and lasting satisfaction — is found only in relationship with Him. God wants us to have this life not just on earth, but for eternity.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

At this point, you might be wondering why we need Jesus to know God.

God designed us to have fellowship with Him, but because of our selfishness and pride, we chose to go our own way. Our relationship with God has been broken. Our rebellion, our turning from God to do what we want, shows up in many different forms, and the Bible calls it sin.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23

God is completely loving, completely holy and completely just. He’s all these things all the time. And because of his holiness and justice, our sin has disastrous consequences. These consequences leave us owing a penalty for all of eternity.

The wages of sin is death. – Romans 6:23

Our sin isolates us from God. And because we are designed for relationship, we’re always striving, through our efforts, to reach God and the full life. We turn to things like money, careers, human relationships, or religion. We try to make these things our gods—to reimagine what a full life is, based on our wants—but inevitably we come up empty.

What must I do to be saved?

Except a man be born of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John3:5) Water baptism is a command. Then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38) There are over ten examples of water baptism in the Name of Jesus listed in the Bible. (Acts 2,8,9,10,19,22; Romans 6, 1 Cor. 1,6; Galatians 3; Colossians 2).

How do I repent?

Repentance prepares our hearts for God. Repent means to change one’s mind, to feel sorry and to move forward in a completely new direction. For Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of but the sorrow of the world worketh death; (11 Cor. 7: 10). Sometimes God reveals his goodness to men to make them want to repent. Anointed preaching of God’s word is often the means of causing us to want to repent.

How Do I Receive the Holy Ghost?

The first step is to thoroughly repent, secondly to be baptized in the Name of Jesus, and thirdly to believe that God will fill you with the Holy Ghost. He that believeth, and is baptized, shall be saved … ; (Mark 16:16). Let the spirit of God submerge you. Just begin praising and thanking God for his goodness, mercy, for sacrificing his life for you, for all the many things he has done for you, and the many things he is doing right now! Open up your mouth and praise the Lord! Hallelujah is the highest praise we can give the Lord! As you begin to surrender your life to the Lord and praise the Lord from the depths of your heart, expect God to fill you with the Holy Ghost. You will speak in tongues, a heavenly language, as the spirit gives the utterance. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4) Oh, what joy will fill your soul! After you have received the Holy Ghost, you are a new creature. God will saturate your soul and you will have a clean heart, and a mind to live for Jesus! Having this experience will enable you to reign with the Lord!!!

About Christian Living

As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

About the Future

Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)
